Kathleen Bruno Celli exemplified leadership, service and school pride throughout her life. Raised in Asbury Park, New Jersey, she was the eldest child of legendary Asbury Park High School football coach William “Butch” Bruno and educator & community leader Patricia Bruno. Growing up alongside the program her father led, Kathleen developed a deep appreciation for teamwork, commitment and community. A graduate of Asbury Park High School in 1963, she served as a Captain of Swing Flags, proudly representing her school and supporting its athletic tradition amongst other clubs and activities.

Following graduation, Kathleen pursued a career in nursing, earning her degree from St. Francis Nursing School in 1965 and later an MBA from Monmouth University in 1985. She held senior leadership positions at Monmouth Medical Center and CentraState Medical Center, where she was recognized with numerous professional and community service awards. At age 51, she transitioned into public service within education, spending 25 years in nursing administration for the Long Branch School District, where she worked diligently to advocate for the health and well-being of students and their families.

Known throughout her career and personal life as a trusted leader, mentor, and caregiver, Kathleen remained devoted to service well beyond her professional responsibilities. She maintained a lifelong love for her hometown of Asbury Park and the school that helped shape her values. She would have been deeply honored to be inducted into the Asbury Park High School Hall of Fame. Her family, especially her son Matt, daughter-in-law Nicole and grandson Matthew, are profoundly honored by this recognition and grateful that her legacy of leadership, service, school spirit and love of community will be remembered and celebrated for generations to come.
