Charles J. Uliano, Esq., is a distinguished New Jersey trial attorney whose five-decade career combines courtroom excellence, sustained public service, and an uncommon commitment to mentoring the next generation of lawyers.

A proud 1966 graduate of Asbury Park High School, Mr. Uliano earned a B.A. in Political Science from La Salle University (1970) and a J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law (1974). He began his career as Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Thomas L. Yaccarino and then served his community as an Assistant Monmouth County Prosecutor (1976–1979). Those early prosecutorial years formed the foundation for a life in litigation and public service.

Mr. Uliano joined the firm now known as Chamlin, Uliano & Walsh, P.A. in 1979 and serves today as Senior Partner and an active trial attorney. He has tried cases extensively in both civil and criminal courts, representing individuals, municipalities, and law enforcement—work underscored by his rare dual certification from the Supreme Court of New Jersey as both a Civil Trial Attorney and a Criminal Trial Attorney. Over the years he has also served locally as Asbury Park Municipal Prosecutor, Neptune Township Attorney, and City Attorney for the City of Long Branch, roles that demonstrate his long-standing commitment to public service and municipal law.

A leader in the profession, Mr. Uliano has held major offices in the Monmouth County Bar Association, including President, and has served in prominent roles with the New Jersey State Bar Association. His career has been recognized with numerous honors for professionalism and civility, including the Abraham J. Zager Award, the Justice Daniel J. O’Hearn Award, the James J. McLaughlin Award, and the Trial Attorneys of New Jersey Trial Bar Award (2022). This spring he will be honored for more than fifty years of service to the Monmouth Bar.

Equally central to his legacy is mentorship and family. Mr. Uliano and his late wife, Ann Whittle Uliano (married 1981; passed 2019), built a family grounded in service and professionalism. Their two children—James J. “J.J.” Uliano and Elizabeth Uliano Giblin—were inspired to enter the law and now practice alongside their father, making the practice a rare, multi-generational enterprise. He is the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren: Grace, Emma, Hannah, Jack, Charlie, Andrew, Matthew, and Alexandra.

Mr. Uliano remains an active trial attorney whose career is defined as much by the cases he has tried as by the people he has taught, advised, and inspired.
